Gallery show at Edgewater - November 15, 2011

Judi's art was featured at Edgewater (Wesley Life Center, west of Jordan Creek) for their "Artist at the Edge" events Septmber and October.  A gallery talk was presented and well attended as well as a Green Arts activity for residents.

New gallery opening! - April 25, 2011

You can now find Judi Ann's art at the Art by Magic Studio Gallery, a new gallery  in West Glen Town Center.  Her art reflects a love of Iowa and nature, and she enjoys exploring various mediums and techniques in both traditional and contemporary styles.  Paintings and prints in acrylic, watercolor and mixed media are featured.

Jazz Great, Mel Wheeler (Mpls.) and Judi Ann Brown releasing new album! - April 25, 2011

Minneapolis Jazz pianist and writer, Mel Wheeler is in production of a recording project featuring favorite timeless standards and originals.  Mel's unique piano stylings are a delight, and his creative writing is moving and inspiring.  Judi Ann Brown will be featured vocalist on selected favorites and original music. 

Mel's amazing jazz piano work is almost complete on the album, and Judi's vocals will be recorded soon.

Spring Artist Workshops - March 11, 2011

Spring is bursting with music and art workshops in songwriting, Green Arts-Painting, and music workshops at the Civic Center of Central Iowa, Iowa State Historical Museum, West Des Moines Schools, and an upcoming sm.ART camp at Gateway Dance Theatre!  Check "calendar" for details.

Civic Center's Applause Series - March 8, 2011

 

The Civic Center Family Series workshops included Judi Ann's presentation of songwriting, movement and fun as part of the Applause Series Discovery Party for young participants in preparation of the production of Leo Leoni's Caldecott Honor books, Swimmy, Frederick and Inch By Inch, February 11, 2011.

Judi Ann Brown  presented her Green Arts visual arts program, Prairie Prints to students who attended the Applause Series production, As Far As the Eye Can See, a celebration of The Great American Prairie with audience favorite Pippa White.  The production ran Monday-Thursday, November 8-11, 2010.

Art Gallery Shows! - October 30, 2010

New acrylic figure studies have been completed and were exhibited at the Rasmussen Gallery, Grandview College.  Click "Art Gallery" to view the results.

And... Judi's acrylic painting of "Fresh Breeze" was exhibited at the Des Moines Art Center as part of the faculty exhibit beginning September 9, 2010.

"I HAVE A DREAM" Festival - January 18, 2010

When: Monday, Jan 18, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM: "I HAVE A DREAM" festival in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Students of all ages enjoyed classes that teach African American dance: "Dream and Dance", works of art based on their dreams: "Dream and Draw", and learn to write their own poetry and songs: "Dream and Sing"   The free workshops are centered on the life and legacy of Dr. King and is open to students of all ages.

Judi Ann Brown  presented "Dream and Sing" where students learn songwriting tools, then create separately or collaboratively and share/perform their "Dream" creations if desired.  The festival will be held at the Fort Des Moines Museum and Education Center.  For more information, call (215) 282-8060, or visit the Education Center at www.fortdesmoines.org.
